Beginning with David Shanahan in the late 1950s, the Shanahans have provided their services to the Limerick, North-Kerry and North-Cork regions for over 60 years. Based in Barna, Newcastle West, their services include silage-cutting, bailing, tillage, and slurry spreading. From the Shanahan's extensive Quarry, they supply a range of crushed stone, sand and gravel.

The Shanahans operate two crushers in their own Quarry that accomodate a range of stone sizes including: 2-inch, 4-inch, 6-inch and more. The 6N and 6F2 variants carry the CE certification.
They suppy a range of out-sourced aggregates including: building, plastering and ESB ducting sand, various sizes of percolation stone and other aggregates on request. Waste and mud collection services are also available.
Shanahan Bros are licensed hauliers and operate a fleet of rigid trucks that cover Limerick and surrounding areas. Along with an articulated truck for nationwide haulage services.

Silage services inlude: cutting, tedding, raking, baling, hay-baling, round-bale picking & drawing, pit-silage and more. Both slurry agitation and slurry spreading services are also available. For spreading, either a dribble-bar system or an umbilical system is used, depending on the customer's needs. For ploughing and reseeding services, a range of equipment is used that can plough, cultivate, level and reseed land. Tractor and dumper hire services are also offered.
